Airplane coffee demo: the organic coffee roaster in Beverly Hills, CA

I met Aharon, an organic coffee roaster, on a plane from Los Angeles to New York…

I showed up for a 6 AM plane ride from Los Angeles to New York City. I didn’t finish my coffee and I had left it in my car, back in parking lot. The Los Angeles traffic was unexpectedly wild at 4 AM, and I just barely made my flight. I boarded my plane and about halfway through the flight I smelled scents of fresh coffee brewing. Then, again I smelled the coffee a few hours later. I remember questioning, was Spirit airlines brewing up some deliciously fresh coffee? And I looked over the aisle to find a man closing a bag of coffee while pitching what looks to be a full coffee demonstration to two other very engaged plane riders.

I must have been staring, because they had noticed and turned to me. Staring or borderline drooling over the thought of a nice coffee (after a morning of traffic, leaving my coffee in your car accidentally before catching that airport shuttle, and somehow even though you thought you were early, you still almost miss your flight… all before 6am). You excuse yourself for staring… Tbh, I probably looked like a deer in headlights after zoning in on the coffee demo across the plane aisle… You eventually ask the coffee man and find out his name is Aharon and find out he has a coffee shop in Beverly Hills. He was full of joy and happy to share his coffee insights with others on the plane. This inspired me to research more into coffee, which later led me to purchase my first stainless steel Moka pot.

When I returned to Beverly Hills, I eventually stopped by Aharon’s Coffee & Roasting to pick up a bag to brew at home in my Moka pot. I love that the company’s coffee is all organic. And Aharon’s coffee is truly joy joy joy (just like him!)

Stainless steel Moka pot instructions:

I preboil the water and add it to the bottom piece of my 4-cup Bialetti Venus Stainless Steel Moka Pot, filling the water to the safety valve. Drop the funnel filter piece in & add the grounds.

Screw on the top piece & heat over medium or low heat:

My 4 cup moka pot brews for about 4-5 minutes. I take it off the heat when the flow of espresso stops:

heat/froth milk, and enjoy 🙂
